Q. Do you only provide moving services in the Ottawa area?
A. No, we specialize in both local and long-distance moves! As a general rule of thumb, we consider any move within a 160km radius from Ottawa as a local move and anything further than 160km as a long distance move.
Q. Will I need to provide my own moving supplies and equipment?
A. If you plan on packing the contents of your home personally, you would be responsible for obtaining the boxes and packing supplies required – we do sell moving supplies and a free, local delivery service to clients who will be moving with Lloyd Empires, however. If you also rely on us for our professional packing services, we would supply and pack all of the required boxes, packing paper and materials with the highest level of professionalism. In either case, our professional moving teams come fully equipped on moving day with everything, including; dollies, straps, tape, shrink wrap, moving pads, floor runners and all the tools necessary to dismantle and reassemble your belongings, when necessary.
Q. What size moving trucks do you have available?
A. Our moving trucks typically come in 18′, 24′, and 26′ to best accommodate your needs.
Q. How many movers typically come with your moving service?
A. The number of movers would always depend on the size of your relocation, while the most common team for local moves is three professional movers and one of our 24′ or 26′ moving trucks. We do however, accommodate a large volume of moves requiring anywhere from two to six movers, depending on the size of the residence and volume of contents being moved.
Q. Can you accommodate any last-minute moves?
A. Yes, some last-minute moves can be accommodated depending on our schedule. However, it’s always best to call or email us as soon as possible to guarantee our availability on your moving day. For household relocations, we would usually suggest contacting Lloyd Empires, 6 to 8 weeks prior to your move, for preferred dates.
Q. Are your moving services insured for my protection?
A. Yes, we include the basic cost of insurance in our upfront pricing. This is on par with the Canadian Industry standard of $0.60 per pound of cargo. Our moving company is registered with the WSIB, fully licensed and insured for your peace of mind. Additional insurance coverage may be purchased as well, while we would be happy to discuss your specific needs to best accommodate each and every customer.
Q. Do you specialize in residential or commercial moves?
A. While Lloyd Empires has been specializing in the residential moving business since our inception, we have also branched into commercial and home delivery services over the past few years to add to our portfolio of high quality services. We also handle commercial freight shipping logistics in the Ottawa area and beyond, covering most of Ontario. If there’s ever something you need us to do for you, just ask!
Q. Do you offer free estimates, and what’s included in your free estimates?
A. Yes, we offer free, no-obligation estimates for all of our moving, delivery, and packing services. We believe in being as transparent as possible with upfront, hourly rates and travel time for local relocations, while most long distance moves and home delivery services can be offered as a flat rate, so there are fewer surprises down the road.
